3 Reasons Your Website Matters More Than You Think

If you don’t have a website yet, your business is probably scattered across platforms.

Maybe you’re posting to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or LinkedIn and hoping to get traction. Or maybe you have word of mouth referrals landing in your email inbox.

No matter which platforms you’re using, if you don’t have a website, your business probably looks like this:

This approach can feel scattered, chaotic, and make your life way more difficult than it needs to be!

To show you why, let’s look at the three reasons you need a website:

  1. You don’t own your connection to your audience on social media platforms

Social media is fun, but here’s the reality:

You don’t own your connection to your audience on those platforms.

Social media platforms can shut down your account, kick you off, or change their terms of service at any time. For any reason. Without notice.

I personally know somebody whose Instagram account was hacked and she lost 20,000 Instagram followers overnight. Her entire following was on Instagram and she didn’t own her relationship with any of those people — Instagram did — and it hurt her business in a major way.

2. Without a website, you’re missing out on having a central hub where people can find out about who you are, what you do, and how to hire you.

Without a website, it’s difficult for your future clients to find information about you and your business — not to mention that a website looks much more professional than an FB business page!

Your website is the one true source of information about you and your business and anyone who comes to your website will have a consistent experience with you and your brand.

Your website is the place where people can easily find out:

  • Who you are

  • What you do

  • What your products and services are

  • What other people are saying about you (reviews)

  • How to hire you, join your email list, or buy your products and courses

On social media, the algorithms control what information people see and when they see it. On your website, YOU get to decide what content your visitors see.

3. It’s hard to get traction and grow your business without a website.

Social media can be a great way to drive traffic to your website and grow awareness of your brand, but it’s not a replacement for your website.

If you want a thriving business, you need a website!

Here’s how to use social media PLUS your website to get traction and grow your business effectively:

When you have a website, you can create posts on social media that get people over to your website.

Suddenly, social media becomes a powerful marketing tool to drive people to your website, where you’ll have the opportunity to turn them into clients, customers, and subscribers.

If you have a business (or you want to start a business), you need a website. It’s non-negotiable in this day and age!
