Why Your Website Still Matters in 2019 (+ 3 Surprising Stats to Prove It!)
A room of 2,000+ people. Hip-hop dance performances. TED talk-style speeches. 50-foot video projections. Tables loaded with merch and colorful t-shirts.
Would you be surprised if I told you the scene I just described was for a book party?
Yep! This shindig was for the launch of “Everything is Figureoutable” by Marie Forleo. Here's what I saw when I sat down in my chair:

Quick — what's the first thing you notice about this book?
Growing up, you probably heard the expression "don't judge a book by its cover."
Well that, my friend, is total bullsh*t.
The second I showed you that photo, you made a snap judgment about the book and whether or not it appeals to you — all based on the cover. (Hey, we're only human. Snap judgments are part of the wiring.)
Which brings me to your website, your "digital cover," and a question I get asked a lot:
"Does my website really matter *that* much? Is it still relevant in 2019?”
My answer to this question goes way beyond the obvious, so I filmed a short video to break it down.
If you prefer text to video, the answer to this question is... YES!
89% of consumers search the web before making a buying decision (Source: Digital Influence Index)
75% of users admit to making judgments about a company’s credibility based on their website (Source: Stanford Web Credibility Research)
First impressions are 94% design related (Source: Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems)
In other words, your future clients are checking out your website and making a snap judgment about whether or not they want to work with you — all based on your website design.
With an outdated or non-existent website, you could be losing clients and opportunities like crazy, and every second you spend saying “I don’t have time," you’re potentially missing out.
You can’t afford to NOT pay attention to your website!
“With an outdated or non-existent website, you could be losing clients and opportunities like crazy, and every second you spend saying “I don’t have time," you’re potentially missing out.”
Intuitively, you know this is true.
Imagine you’re looking for a family photographer. Who would you hire?
It’s obvious! You’d hire the photographer on the right.
This is actually a real before-and-after from my client Laura Yost. After launching her new website, Laura wrote to me and said...
"I got new clients! After launching, I had a photoshoot and my new clients said 'we knew we wanted you the minute we clicked on your site'"
— Laura Yost, Photographer
